Bon Bon has been in foster since mid May and here’s what his foster mom has to say about him!
My goodness, this guy! If `kid on Christmas` were a dog, it would be sweet Bon Bon. His enthusiasm and sheer joy for toys makes everyday feel like Santa just came. Bon Bon is a 100% road-tripping, home-loving, country boy. The first day of fostering, it took awhile to get him to settle for a nap...until I turned on some country music. No joke!
Right then, let`s go through all his perks, quirks and, not going to lie, the things that make him...different.
Perks: Non destructive, isn`t dog or small animal reactive, fully house-trained. Walks well on a leash and is mostly a loose leash walker. Highly treat motivated, which makes him easy to work with. He is bright and very receptive to learning new tricks. His happy place is chill time with his people.
Quirks: Can sit for hours content to play with his toys/snooze on the sofa. His love for toys is like nothing ever seen, it`s amazing! A self entertainer!
Things that make him different: Prone to stress-related skin allergies. If you really want to see his beautiful personality shine, show him your gentle, calm side and he`ll blossom.
Recommended: A family or individual looking for a medium energy dog and can provide a home that is relaxed and loving, enjoys easy walks. I don`t recommend rough-housing, tug of war, racing around the house, you`d get him much too excited, which wouldn`t be the best for his allergies for starters. He`ll love it but it`ll stress him too. Let`s face it, what we enjoy isn`t always the best for us, we`ve all been there :D.
In Short: This precious little cowboy has a good balance of play, independence, and affection. He`s not just a good boy, he`s pretty adorable too. It`s a miracle he`s available. Oh, and did I mention his darling nose freckles? Or the adorable spots on his ears?
If you`re ready to love and be loved, Bon Bon is the dog for you!

Our shelter has more than 500 available cats and dogs every day! For pets at the shelter: Adoptions must be completed in-person at the shelter. AAC is open for adoption walk-ins every day from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. A shelter pet’s availability can change at any time, so we recommend choosing a few favorites. For pets in foster: Go to www.AustinAnimalCenter.org to find the pet's profile and click that pet's pink “Adopt Me” button. This will prompt you to complete an adoption questionnaire. Submitting an application does not hold the animal for you.
We have dozens of animals that won't be listed online yet because they're still in their stray hold period, but can be pre-adopted at the shelter in case their owner doesn't come for them.
Adoption Fees:
$80 cats & kittens up to 6 years old
$80 dogs 6 months to 6 years, 30 lbs and up
$100 dogs under 30 lbs and/or under 6 months
$30 small animals
No fee for senior pets 7 years and older
