My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Name: Diesel
Breed: Australian Cattle Dog
Age: 9 years
Weight: 56 pounds
Vetting Done: Diesel is up to date on all vaccinations, including elective vaccines such as those for Lyme's and Leptospirosis. He is neutered. He takes a monthly preventative for Heartworm and a quarterly preventative for fleas/ticks. He does have a cyst on his back right leg, which the vet does not believe to be cancerous; however, he licks it frequently which has caused infection in the past, so the vet does recommend removal of the cyst. Diesel also has some elevated liver values that have been a concern over the last couple months. He is not showing any clinical symptoms - he is seemingly healthy - but something is going on with his liver and the vet is not sure what it is. Some tests have been done to rule out a few things, but more testing would be eventually needed to get a diagnosis/treatment plan. There isn't a big rush on this since he's not clinically ill, but the vet has no way of knowing if whatever this issue is will progress quickly or stay mild long-term. All vet records would be available for any potential adopter.

Diesel is housebroken, crate-trained for overnight only, and leash trained. He sleeps in his crate nightly, but has free-reign of the house during the day.
Diesel is great with most other dogs, but he would do best in a home without cats. He should not be in a home with any young children.
A fenced yard would be best for Diesel to be able to run around freely.

Diesel has a strong herding instinct which comes out more prominently with children. He also has a tendency to try to herd visitors, which presents as him biting/nipping at people's shoes. Once he knows someone well, he typically does not continue this behavior.

Diesel loves to exercise - he loves long walks or going for runs. His favorite game to play is tug, and he enjoys chasing the laser pointer around the yard too. When weather isn't nice enough for exercise, he likes mental stimulation such as treat puzzles. Diesel is a snuggler and loves to cuddle up on the couch. He also really enjoys car rides. Diesel is very vocal and uses his voice to communicate many things. He will whine to go outside or for food. He is vocal when he plays tug. And he will bark to let you know if someone is at the door.
Diesel does not like fireworks or going to the vet. While he shouldn't live in a home with young children, he is generally very happy and wants to be everybody's friend. He has a lot of love to give.
