Name: Penny Pug
Breed: Pug/Jack Russell Terrier
Weight: approximately 12 lbs
Age: 4 years old
Personality: Penny is a reserved pup who really needs confidence building. After spending her whole life in a cage, used over and over for breeding, she is looking for a loving home who will teach her that the world is a good place. Penny is happy to see new human friends but doesn't know how to approach them. She enjoys spending time in her foster mom's lap for pets and loves yummy snacks!
Home recommendation: Penny is looking for a rescue-experienced home that will work on building her confidence and giving her the space and time she needs to come around. She is such a wonderful, deserving dog who is ready to shine! She just needs some extra love and patience. Penny's family must have a fully fenced in yard.
Kids: 10+ -- Penny does not have issues with kids but would not be suited for very young children.
Dogs: Yes!
Cats: Unknown, we will cat-test for an approved adopter.
Crate Trained: Penny enjoys her crate. She sleeps in it and will also go in there for quiet time.
House Trained: Penny spent her entire life in a cage up until now. As such, she is still working on potty training.
Leash Manners: Penny is working on walking on a leash and making great progress but prefers to spend time in the yard.
Training: Penny had little socialization before coming to WISE due to her past life. She needs a patient, understanding family who will work on her training and socialization.
Medical: Penny is in good health at this time.
Why did she come to WISE?: WISE recently rescued a group of dogs who were throw aways from an Amish breeding puppy mill. When the "breeder" decided that the dogs were no longer needed for breeding, he planned to euthanize them. WISE and other rescues stepped up to rescue them.
