My story

The Fittest Litter
Introducing the cutest group of athletes you’ve ever seen! These adorable border collie mixes were being given away for free in a Walmart parking lot, and one of our friends in the rescue couldn’t look the other way. We are so glad she didn’t, because the day after she picked them up, they were diagnosed with a painful skin condition. Luckily, they immediately started treatment and now they are happy, playful little cuties that are ready to find their forever homes!!

Tia has the most “border collie personality” of the group - she’s a little spazzy but in the cutest way! She is looking for a high energy family that is familiar with the border collie breed and excited to work with a trainable pup.

If you would like to add Tia to your family please apply!

Thanks to Pointed Paw Photography for donating their time to take some wonderful pictures of our pups 🐾

If interested in adopting one of our available pets, please fill out an application at http://www.dixiegirldogrescue.org/adopt-form

PLEASE MAKE NOTE- OUR DOGS ARE FOSTERED IN ALABAMA (UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED), OUR DOGS TRANSPORT TO THEIR NEW FAMILIES IN RHODE ISLAND AFTER THEY HAVE BEEN ADOPTED.

Our rescue pets are fostered in Southern foster homes (unless otherwise stated) and are posted for adoption once they are completely vetted and ready to travel. Our pets are adoptable in Alabama and New England States. Our adoption fee includes transport fee, spay/neuter, current vaccinations, deworming, heart worm test for animals over 7 months old, all necessary vetting and an interstate health certificate. Once an application is received, our team is happy to answer all of your questions and send additional pictures and videos. Thank you for thinking rescue!

Why adoption is a great option

Tia, a Johnston Border Collie/Australian Shepherd dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Border Collie/Australian Shepherd for sale in Johnston, or seeking a Border Collie/Australian Shepherd dog from a breeder in Johnston.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Johnston already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Johnston breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Border Collie/Australian Shepherd breeders who help with Border Collie/Australian Shepherd rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Johnston paves the way for another one to be saved.
