My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Matilda is a beautiful 3-year old female kitty who was brought to the HSOV on May 12, 2022 along with her five newborn kittens after they were found in the Whipple Ohio area.

Momma Matilda has a black-and-white short smooth coat, a long tail, and a pretty face with dark golden eyes, a white muzzle, a pink nose, and long white whiskers.

Matilda was given vaccinations, wormer, and flea treatment on May 13, 2022. She weighed 5.8 lbs that day. Matilda was given booster vaccines on June 13, 2022.

Her kittens have been given wormer and vaccinations (including booster vaccine. They have also been treated with Terramycin ophthalmic ointment for their eyes.

Matilda was combo tested on May 13, 2022 and is negative for feline leukemia and heartworm, but she tested positive for FIV [feline immunodeficiency virus].

A vigilant pet owner who treats secondary infections can assist an FIV-infected cat to live a reasonably long life. The chances that an FIV-infected cat will pass the virus to other cats within a household are slim to none if no serious fighting or biting occurs.

Matilda was a great mother to her babies and took fantastic care of them under less-than-ideal conditions in a small shelter cage. One of her kittens (Caroline) did not survive, but the other four (Damon, Elena, Matt, and Stefan) continue to do well. Her kittens were separated from Matilda after they were fully weaned and one of our wonderful foster mothers took them home on August 10th so that they could enjoy romping and playing in a real home environment.

Matilda was spayed on August 22, 2022 and was also given rabies vaccine. She weighed 6.5 lbs that day. Matilda is available for adoption or rescue. Her kittens are only available for rescue at the present time.

Rescue groups may contact our HSOV Feline Rescue Coordinator via email (sharonpaul2@suddenlink.net). We can usually help with transportation.
