My story

The sweet, snuggly señorita!

Hola, amigos! My name is Alma. I’m a 4-month-old Labrador Retriever mix… need I say more? On top of being pawitively adorable (if I don’t say so myself) I’m friendly, cuddly, and a bundle of fun, weighing about 25 lbs! My momma was recently rescued south of the border and lucky for me, I got to tag along for the ride. Now that I’m in tip-top health and old enough, I’m ready for a casa and familia of my own!

I’m an outgoing girl who gets along with pups and people, little niños and niñas too! I haven’t met any cats, so I’m not sure about them. I love wrestling with my bigger foster siblings and being part of the pack. In true puppy fashion, I have plenty of energy that I like to take out by playing with my pals or toys. Even though I’m an active pup, I’m also a total lovebug. I’m an all-star snuggler and love being loved!

I’m doing very well with my training and I’m almost there with bathroom 101. I do great on the leash and love getting out for walks! I can be pretty playful and energetic, but I’m also a good listener. I don’t get any separation anxiety, although I prefer having company!

My ideal furever home is one with a loving hooman who is willing to continue my basic puppy training. I would also love a buddy to play with. If I sound like the snuggly señorita for you… you’re right! I pawmise you won’t regret it! My adoption fee is $700 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip. If you want to take me home, please fill out the form on the website here: https://theanimalpad.org/adoption-application

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We prioritize local San Diego applicants. We do not provide transport of dogs to other states, and don't allow the dogs to fly in the cargo of the plane. Our adoption process from start to finish, involves 3 standard forms, and 2 situational. All potential applicants must be capable of providing their adopted pet with routine and emergency veterinary care (yearly health checks, keeping vaccinations current, heartworm/flea preventatives, and immediate care in the event the animal is sick or injured). They are required to license their pet, and keep an identification tag on their pet at all times. All applicants must agree to a home check, and provide us with a veterinary reference, or personal references if you're a first-time pet owner. Our home checks are not to invade the privacy of the applicants, we do this to ensure the pet is going into a safe home. We do not discriminate against non-homeowners, or those living in apartments, condos, or otherwise. Our adoption fees vary from $150-1000. Applicants must agree in writing that if for any reason they are unable to keep or care for their pet, the pet will be surrendered back to our rescue and not re-homed, turned over to a shelter, pound, rescue, new owner, sold, etc. Adoption Application: https://theanimalpad.org/adoption-application/
