My story

Hi, I’m Ernie. I’m named after the famous writer (Earnest Hemingway) who had many cats like me – cats with lots of toes! I’m a very handsome polydactyl tuxedo guy with extra toes on my front feet.If you're looking for a Big cat, that's me too! I’m about a year and a half now, just the perfect age to get to know a new forever family. I say “new” because my mom and I had been adopted by a family, but the family lost their jobs and had to move during Covid and couldn’t take us. Now we’re back in a foster home waiting for a new forever home. Hopefully this time it will truly be forever.

I’m super fun and really like playing – especially with feather toys. I also like loving on my foster mom - I follow my foster mom around the house like a puppy. I purr as soon as you look at me – I’m a real sweetie. I like to sleep under the covers – in my carrier, under the sofa cover or maybe even under the bed covers with you! Did you know that boy kitties are the most affectionate? Well, it’s true, especially for me!! If you only want one kitty I can be an only cat or I can become friends with another friendly cat you already have.

Right now, because I lost my original family and moved into a foster home I am a bit confused and shy. I’ll need a family that will give me the time to get adjusted. But I know that it will be worth your while! When I get to a new home and begin to feel confident I will be my old sweet, loving, playful self in no time 😊

I’m already neutered and I’m ready to go to my forever family right now! So, if you think I’d be a sweet, fun and loving addition to your family, it would be our dream come true to find a forever home with you. You can call or text me at 602-757-9791 and ask for Deb. Or email me at drtweets2@msn.com I’ll be waiting to hear from you!

Additional adoption info

Complete an adopter application (email or text for a copy) followed up by a phone.interview. We ask about previous ownership of cats, dog doors, children, backup ownership in case of illness - the usual. There is a re-homing fee for all cats and kittens.. The potential adopter would come to the foster home to meet the animal and then a home visit. We return calls/texts/emails almost always within 24 hours even if the cat has already been adopted. We want to encourage adoption whether its from us or some other rescue.

Go meet their pets

By appointment only but we are very flexible and accommodating to meet people's schedules.

More about this rescue

We are a group of women and men who have volunteered in rescue for over 20 years each. We foster the cats and sometimes dogs in our homes with our own animals. This allows us to get to know the animal and what type of family would fit it. We also are the care givers for several community/colony cats at a local college. We've been doing this for years also. We have stabilized the cat population at the college and the only new cats arriving are ones abandoned there. We haven't had a litter in years!!! We TNR all the cats but don't return the tame ones as we foster these and get them new homes. We also educate friends and colleagues on finding new homes for their own cats if they can no longer keep them. We would love to welcome in other like minded people to foster, help trap, stock the feeder and water stations, and drive cats to the S/N clinics. We would also welcome any cat food donations for the feral cats.
