Red Riding Hood
14.3 hh sorrel/chestnut walking horse mare
approximately 21 years old

Red came into care with HCHS in late 2019. She had some behavioral and trust issues due to uneducated treatment by her former owners and our horse foster and trainer, Sarah has had her since then.

Red turned out to be a fabulous trail horse - forward-moving yet attentive to her rider, fearless, and never, ever spooky. She has a smooth running walk and even canters. While she is still a bit shy - she is so sweet and loves to be ridden, handled, and groomed. She loads on any trailer, stands perfectly when tied, and for the blacksmith, gets along with mares, geldings & cattle in the pasture. Red would do best with a horse-savvy family and routine.

While Red is very well trained and rides beautifully, she is not for a beginner or grandma. She needs an experienced horse handler on the ground and under saddle and in return, she offers many years of companionship and fun trail riding.

Contact us for more information. If you are interested in Red, please complete an application and we'll set up a time to meet her.
