My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This dog is currently in boarding or a shelter. S/he could really benefit from a foster home that could offer more one-on-one interaction and less crate time. If interested, we'd love for you to fill out our Foster Application (www.bit.ly/DH-Fosters).

Remy is a sweet, gentle, loving soul who loves naps, watching tv, and head scratches! He needs a house or flat with little to no stairs (1-3 steps is fine) and he does well with the help of his back-end harness/sling. He loves cuddling while listening to calming music. He will keep you company if you work from home. He is the sweetest senior dog we have ever met. He’s been happy and smiling since we got him despite everything he’s been through, and he deserves nothing but the best, loving home!

Remy was found abandoned in a fenced construction site in Atlanta on 5/28. We got him rescued and to the vet by 5/30. He had skin, ear, teeth, and eye infections as well as dehydration, fatigue, hip/knee atrophy, tumors, abrasions, and nails so long the vet estimated they had never been cut his entire life.

Now almost 3 weeks and 2 vet visits later, Remy is a happy and healthy senior guy! His blood work and X-rays are normal, no more infections, and the small lumps and bumps he has are not cancerous. He’s just an older gentleman who has a body that’s slowing down.

He takes fish oil, glucosamine, CBD, and melatonin(PM) supplements, as well as an allergy medication. He requires a bath at least every 2 weeks, and ear cleaning every 2-3 days. The vet also believes he is mostly deaf.

He does show some signs of separation anxiety, canine cognitive dysfunction due to age, and excites easily. If our other dogs bark at something, Remy will immediately try to get up and start barking too.

We have found some (very little) stool on his bed in the mornings, we think from him passing gas, so the incontinence isn’t a big issue. He wakes up usually around 6-7 am and barks to be fed and let out.

He is completely house trained. He eats and drinks like a champ, loves naps and going for short walks. He sleeps for most of the day, and just loves to be near people!

Of course a permanent home is even better. If interested, please complete an Adoption Application (www.bit.ly/DH-Adoption)

Once your application is approved, we will bring the adoptable pet to your home for a preliminary visit. We are 100% donation funded; unless otherwise noted above, please expect a minimal adoption fee of $250 to cover each pet's basic vetting.
