Sombra is a rescue dog from Medellin, Colombia. She was about 2 years old and living on the streets. We adopted her while we were there on vacation. She was starving and not doing well at all. A local family had taken her in for several months, but was not able to actually adopt her. We don't know how she ended up as a street dog as she seems to be a purebred lab and was spayed. Many months were spent trying to figure out what had happened, but it was obvious she had been on the streets for a long time. Because of her history, Sombra has food aggression at times with other dogs. She loves other dogs, but it is best to keep food separate and not feed her from the table. She is a loving dog, extremely cuddly, sweet, and loves playing. Since having our baby, Sombra has become increasingly protective and not liking people coming near the house. She can be aggressive, barking and chasing if the gate is not closed if people walking dogs go past.
