My story

Maggie was found by a hiker in a Middletown, NY park running around.  Not micro-chipped, no tags or collar, she was most likely abandoned.  We have no idea why as she's really a good girl. She is funny about other dogs, so at this time she would have to be an only dog. She is NOT a pure bred GS, but has all the markings of a GS.  She does not shed like a GS either.  She is medium in size.  As with any dog, she enjoys exercise, and needs walks.  She enjoys her people and needs someone committed/invested to her future.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Fees are on our website and can vary based on age, breed and what expenses we incur. Must submit an application for a cat or dog and provide Veterinary and personal references. Dog adoptions take longer so that we make sure the fit is right and adopters understand the commitment. If we have multiple applications, it may take longer. Important to give your Veterinarian and personal references the "heads up" that we will be contacting them. If Veterinary reference is very good, we may not need to contact references. In some cases a home visit may be required.

Go meet their pets

We have events throughout the year, however the best place to see our animals is at our shelter located at 44 Police Drive in Goshen, NY. We are presently open to the public Thursday - Tuesday 11:00-3:00pm. We are closed to the public on Wednesdays. You can also see pictures and bios on our website, FB, and PETFINDER & PETESTABLISHED.

More about this rescue

We are a small no-kill cat and dog shelter. We raise over 70% of what it costs us to survive. We have volunteers however we do have a regular staff that works 7 days a week - all part timers. Our physical building has been in existence for 14 years. Before that GHS worked on a foster care system. We spay/neuter ALL animals before leaving, except for those with medical conditions that it would endanger their lives to do so. We try to educate the public that instead of sending their animals to shelters to exhaust all other possibilities. We also try to educate the public about the importance of spaying and neutering. We are always looking for committed volunteers to work with our animals and to help fundraise throughout the year.
