My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hola, I’m Betty from Mexico and I want to tell you all about me. I’m a 9 month old 15lb dachshund mix gal who just wants a nice home of my own like everyone else.

I’m a go getter, you should see me run! For having short legs, I sure am speedy. I’m so speedy that I think I would do great with agility classes. Even though I’m very active, I also love love my humans and cuddle time. If you want some cuddle time, I’m always up for that too, just give me the word (or lap) and I’m your girl. I also sleep through the night, in your arms or just snuggled up to you, either works for me.

I love my walks but I have this one little flaw, when I see another dog on my walks I will bark, but not in a nasty way. I just really really want to meet that other dog! Once I’ve said hello, it’s all good and we can continue our walk. I know with some redirection and encouragement this is workable and my foster mom said I’m doing much better.

I love other dogs, the bigger ones can intimidate me a little bit so I’ll just roll onto my back and submit to them to show them I’m no threat, once I know they like me I’m good to go. Medium and smaller dogs, bring them on! Even better if they like to play tag and race me as I love to run and play with them. I also need a home with a fenced in yard to do zoomies in so unfortunately apartments would not be a good fit for me.

I am still young and puppyish, so watch those tags on pillows or don’t leave paper laying around unless you want it shredded because then I’m on it. Instead, if you give me a toy, that would be even better because I love toys!

When you have to leave, I will wonder where you’ve gone and if you’re ever coming back, right now I’m living with 2 other dogs, they’re pretty chill and help me while I’m alone. I would have to have another dog in my home to be BFF with. I also love kids, a family home would be perfect for me!

My foster mom has started to leave me uncrated (as long as all the paper and other things I might chew are put away) so now I don’t bark, I did when left in my crate. My Foster mom spies on me when she leaves with these eye in the sky cameras she has in every room, she said I do wander around and I’m on the couch, off the couch, on the couch (you get it) when she isn’t here, but I don’t seem as stressed as I was when I first arrived. She will also reassure me (these camera things let her speak to me!) so I know she’s not far and I’m learning she is always going to come home.

So now you know all about me now let’s learn all about you, my future forever home. I can’t wait to come cuddle with you, please apply for me, I promise to love you forever!

See you soon (hopefully),
Love Betty ❤️
