My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

"On our walk this morning, as I was watching Isiah delicately pluck the wild strawberries off their vine in absolute bliss (Isiah LOVES wild strawberries), I was thinking to myself that I can't believe this sweet guy is STILL with the rescue ? He's been waiting so long for his family to find him.. each day that passes is another day they won't spend with him searching out wild strawberries in the grass.. they're not enjoying the simple everyday pleasures that he loves to enjoy, that he's taught ME to enjoy too and it's heartbreaking.

He's a devoted boy, he loves with his whole heart. My own dogs don't even look at me the way that Isiah does!! It's killing me that I can't adopt him, but if I take him in I won't be able to take on another older foster- and there will always be more in need.

This guy is the whole package- he does great with all of the animals on my farm, great with kids, loves and does great with my other dogs (including my extremely grumpy/snappy older dog), has the potential to be an off leash dog because he stays glued to your side, does well alone, crate trained, leash trained, potty trained.. what more could you ask for!?

Isiah's only flaw is that he has a past. Not much is known about it, but something awful must've happened to him. When he was rescued long ago, he was already a shy dog. But after being adopted out and returned within a week, something happened to Isiah while in his "adopters" home that changed him. Thank goodness for Vivian and her family because without them, Isiah would've never known love, or a kind hand before coming to me. I've worked with Isiah for 4 months now and he has become the dog he always deserved to be. He is 110% a normal, happy dog in my home. In order for him to be that dog with his future family, he just needs a patient introduction. It only took me 2 weeks to completely earn his trust and I think it would only take him a couple days to come out of his shell again. A couple days of patience in trade for the most devoted, loving dog i've ever known.. seems like a pretty sweet deal to me!

Please share Isiah's petfinder profile so that other people can find him. He's been with the rescue for far too long and with no interest at all. A dog like this doesn't come around everyday, please help him find that special person."

From Isiah's foster mom May 2021:

"Isiah's a very special dog and needs an adopter who is experienced, or at least familiar with rehabilitating rescued animals that have come from less fortunate situations. Just like most rescued dogs, Isiah has had a rough past. But he hasn't let that break him, because he's learned that he can trust people again. He just needs someone willing to empathize with him and offer a patient introduction, so he can be comfortable and trust someone new. It only took me 2 weeks to completely gain his trust and for him to become a totally normal dog in my home. After Isiah decided he could trust me, he quickly became my loyal little foster buddy. He's a very devoted dog and will keep his eyes on the person he trusts, watching with admiring eyes. Since I've had Isiah with me I've been working with him and slowly introducing him to new faces, to show him that ALL people are good. I've found that as long as he's near someone he trusts, he can feel confident in most situations with a little positive reinforcement. I've also spent the last 3 months teaching him to become the best dog he can be- so yes, he's totally house trained and walks well on a leash!! I could imagine him very easily becoming someone's faithful shadow. With a little patience, Isiah will make a wonderful companion."
