My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

*PLEASE NOTE: The first step in the process is to fill out an adoption application on our website roversretreat.org *

Meet Poppy! This gorgeous girl is a 1 year old golden retriever who’s as sweet as can be. Poppy has spent the last couple weeks settling in at her foster home and she is now ready to find her forever family!

Poppy is such a fun puppy who loves being outdoors. She enjoys a couple long walks a day, lots of ball play in the yard, and car rides with her foster family. Poppy bonds closely with her people and loves to cuddle and be near you all the time. She sleeps all night in bed with her foster and cuddles on the couch with ‘her people’ throughout the day. A family looking for a cuddly, velcro golden will be a must for sweet Poppy.

Poppy is being fostered with two other dogs and has done well, but doesn’t quite understand social cues yet. She likes to play with her golden retriever foster sister from time to time, but mostly gravitates towards her people, exploring in the yard, and playing with her toys. Poppy would be very happy in a home as the only dog with plenty of opportunities to socialize outside of the home, or in a home with a submissive doggie companion.

Poppy can be a typical pippy at times and will put things in her mouth that she’s not supposed to have. She can easily be traded for a toy or treat, but her forever family should be prepared to puppy-proof and watch her closely in the yard so she doesn’t eat anything she shouldn’t! Poppy has a special connection with her foster family’s kids, and kids she’s met outside of the home. Her ideal home would have kids, and parents who understand what it takes to supervise and facilitate a great relationship between a dog and kids over time. Poppy is a special girl with the sweetest personality.

Poppy is smart, friendly, and beyond adorable… quite the package deal! She is going to make a fantastic addition to the right family. If you are interested in adopting Poppy please fill out an adoption application on our website roversretreat.org

*PLEASE NOTE: Poppy is being fostered in Redondo Beach *
