My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Rebel is a 2.5 year old cattle dog/catahoula/Pittie mix. He’s a big boy weighing in around 80lbs, though he’ll cuddle up to any person as if he’s a 5lb lap dog. He’s smart and catches on very quickly. His arsenal of skills include, but are not limited to: sit, stay (kind of), paw, beg, rollover, and stand (on his back two legs). The catahoula/cattle dog in him loves chasing squirrels and playing. Once he spots a squirrel in a tree, he remembers that tree forever. He’s happy to lounge around all day or go on long walks/runs. He will lick anyone half to death, but will stop after calming down from the excitement of them arriving. He loves kids but forget his size sometimes. With a little more work he can learn an appropriate greeting! He gets possessive when around other dogs; doesn’t like to share toys, food, beds, attention, loves to eat kitty turds if he can get to the litter box, and raids the kitchen if anything is in reach. He is possessive of his food around cats but otherwise doesn’t care about them. He stays in his kennel when home alone but could be worked up to staying out if food goodies aren’t left out on a low shelf/counter. He is potty trained, kennel-trained, and sleeps on his own bed. He loves love and is fiercely loyal to anyone in his corner.

If you want to meet a pup in person, Once Upon a Tail Rescue does adoption events at PetSmart in Covington, LA on most Saturdays with many of our adoptable dogs there.

Don't forget to complete your application ahead of time, so you don't miss out on the pup you've connected with. If pre-approved, you have first priority & can usually take home your new best friend the same day!

*Please note that there is no obligation to adopt by completing an application.*

**All dogs are required to have complete vet services, including shots, rabies, spay/neuter and microchip, which are included in the Adoption Fee. Some dogs may still require completion of these services due to current age, size, breed and/or health. All vet services must be done at the vet clinic used by Once Upon a Tail Rescue.
