My story

Serena (aka Little Lilly) ended up at the shelter with several other housemates. All were very shy, but super sweet. She has come along way in the months since she was rescued, but will require a patient, dog experienced home to help her continue to flourish. A home with another social dog would be preferred.

Here is what her fosterhome has to say about her:

Sweet little Lilly is finally coming out of her shell. This gentle young gal originally came from a neglectful situation, but she’s been making huge strides and gaining more confidence each day. She needs a pup-parent who can bring out her full personality and further socialize her while promoting more trust in humans. She still needs to learn some basic commands, but she’s treat-motivated and already excellent walking on a leash. She also knows how to use a dog door. We believe that she’s ready for the next level of training.

Lilly is still a tad timid in new situations, but lately she’s been displaying her loving and playful side. Recently, she’s been approaching her foster parents for special attention, pets and scratches. She also gets along great with other dogs and loves to play and chase. She does have one quirky but cute hobby…a slight hoarding obsession. Lol! She loves to collect toys and other objects from around the house to store in her (not to secret) hiding pile.

All in all, sweet Lilly just needs a loving individual or family to help her navigate this brave new world of becoming a pet…a setting that’s been unfamiliar from her neglectful pack upbringing. She’s ready to learn what it truly means to be loved. You’ll appreciate her mild-mannered and low-maintenance demeanor. As a special bonus, she comes with a petit frame and an easy-to-manage short coat! Her coloring is gorgeous with stunning brown eyes, and a sleek cappuccino coat (black with a brown undercoat). Come meet Lilly today and find out what a special gem of a dog she is!

Please email right away if you would like to learn more about this dog......and visit our website www.siarescuers.org to learn more about our rescue group. Adoption fees range from $350-$450 for dogs. THE DOGS SHOWN ON THE SITE ARE IN FOSTERCARE - WE DO NOT HAVE A SHELTER TO VISIT. EMAIL is the best way to reach us.We are a volunteer run, very small organization - so please be patient when waiting for a response, but feel free to check back in if you haven't heard from us in a day or so - thank you so much for considering a rescued pooch!

More about this rescue

PLEASE ALSO VISIT www.siarescuers.org for more animals, info and our adoption or foster questionnaires! Our Mission Statement... Sacramento Independent Animal Rescuers is a 501c3 nonprofit organization. Our purpose is to aid stray, abandoned, and neglected animals. In addition to animals rescued and adopted by our organization, SIAR is also dedicated to help other independent animal rescuers find their foster animals the loving homes they deserve. To date, thousands of dogs and cats have been rescued and placed into wonderful homes in the past few years. In order to provide these services, we work with the community shelters, rescue organizations, and individuals who have animals with special needs and place these animals in permanent homes after they reach a stage of wellness. Our mission is to provide loving, permanent homes for animals that have been abused, abandoned, or lost, which otherwise would not be with us today. Many of our rescued animals, especially those that were rescued from the shelters initially had kennel cough, pneumonia, or giardia with the extreme cases having the parvo or distemper viruses. In addition, a high percentage of animals are malnourished and require special dietary demands. We rely on tax deductible cash donations as well as food and other pet supplies that will allow us to continue to save lives! **** WE ARE IN GREAT NEED OF DONATIONS AS MANY OF THE ANIMALS WE RESCUE HAVE COSTLY MEDICAL PROBLEMS AND ARE CONSIDERED NON ADOPTABLE AT THE SHELTERS - WE HOPE TO GIVE THEM A SECOND CHANCE AT A LONG AND HAPPY LIFE**** All of our companion pets, have been neutered or spayed, given all current vaccinations, heartworm tested and microchipped. This also provides the community with healthier animals and aids in the reduction of the outspread of illness and future homeless offspring. The adoption fee for animals being adopted by SIAR can range from $75-$100 (for kitties) and $150-$350 (for dogs) depending on the animal and associated costs. The adoption fee helps up recooperate the thousands of dollars spent yearly on rehabilitation and allows us to continue to rescue animals in need. Please be sure to click on the animal you are interested in. The corresponding biography will let you know which rescuer you need to contact to learn more about that wonderful pet. Disclaimer: Due to the limited time spent with the rescued animals, Sacramento Independent Animals Rescuers is not responsible for the health, behavior or temperament of the animals listed or adopted by this group.
