This super sweet little girl is Maya. Maya is about 2 years old and average size for a female at about 50 lbs. She is smaller, but is a rock solid, muscle bound little girl.

Maya is very outgoing, funloving and all around exuberant and excited about life. She loves everyone and everything and just wants to make the most of every adventure and new experience.

Maya is an adult dog, but acts more like a puppy. While she is behaved and knows her commands she is also playful and silly. She seems to have not had many opportunities in her prior life to just be a dog and get to run and play.

Maya's perfect family will be like her, outdoorsy and adventurous and ready to spend lots of time with her and include her in all their favorite activities, especially if they include hiking, camping, jogging or anything fun!

Maya also really needs a friendly, playful doggie companion that is right at her speed that can keep up and wrestle and chase and do all her favorite things. Maya is very friendly with other dogs and always happy to make new buddies.

Maya is wonderful out and about on leash, she walks nicely and listens well. She's also well behaved and ready to snuggle up for the evening once she's had a chance to get some exercise.

Maya would to be a family dog and would do well in a home with older children, over 5 preferably. She's got a rock solid temperament, but a wee bit too much energy for the really little ones.

Here is a note from a volunteer that enjoyed a nice outgoing with Maya.

"When Maya was brought out she seemed to be pulling the attendant down the hall. She was wiggly and excited to meet someone new. She went with me no problem and jumped up to give me kisses. When we got to the car she jumped up with no problems and promptly climbed from the back seat to the front to explore the toys in the foot well of the passenger seat. Satisfied about the toys, she climbed into the passenger seat and laid down with her head in my lap.

About halfway to the park, she stood up and wanted to stick her nose out the window. I lowered the window enough to get her head out. She was in heaven with the wind whipping her ears back and gave that ear to ear pitty grin. At the park she got out of the car with me and did great on our walk. She had a bouncy spring to her steps and was wiggly with both people and dogs. Although I was cautious with her interactions, she was nothing but a happy go lucky girl. We walked around one of the trails and she was a dream! No pulling, just happy.

We drove back to Whispering Pines much the same way we came. I asked if we could go in the yard to play and the girl at the desk said that was no problem. We played and ran. She finally settled down and began to play/chew on a long plush squeaky toy. About a half hour before closing, I brought her back in and she went with no problems, leading the way.

She did awesome and loved to give kisses and get butt rubs!

Adoption Requirements

*CPBR rarely makes same sex placements for purebred pit bulls, exceptions only for mixes and breed savvy, multi-dog experienced owners, all pets in the home must be spayed/neutered

*Adopters must be at least 25 years old (exceptions may be made for homeowners that show a history of stability and responsibility).

*We check property records. You must either be a home owner or get approval from your landlord and be able to provide us with contact info to verify that pit bulls are allowed.

*We are looking for responsible dog owners that can show they have done their research. These are people that undertand why pit bulls should not be taken to dog parks, left outside unattended, and why pit bulls should always be supervised with other animals.

Adoption Process

Requires references, home visit, contract and $150-$250 adoption fee depending on vetting and training provided . All dogs are spayed/neutered, fully vaccinated, de-wormed, heartworm tested and on preventative, health checked and microchipped at a minimum
