My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi there, my name is Fairfax and I look completely different these days than how I was found. I was practically encased inside a hair torture chamber when a Facebook plea went out for someone to help me. I had been seen for 2 days at a shop in San Antonio, Texas so 4 Little Paws Rescue answered the call and I was rushed to the vet. I was a mess. It took 4.5 hours to shave me down, neuter me and remove a badly infected eye. Unfortunately, I also ended up with a large flap cut open on my head from a shaving mistake. I was miserable from one end to the other but time heals all wounds and look at me now! Fuzzy and adorable! I can actually run and play and live like a normal dog. Initially, everyone thought I was a Shih Tzu but after the haircut, it turns out I am a Poodle. A tiny 12 lb boy about 3 years old and I had been uncared for, for many years. I am nervous when we initially meet but who could blame me. My life has been a series of either no attention or too much surgical attention. I am currently staying at a very nice doggy daycare where I get my own kennel space, lots of attention, and playtime twice a day. The staff get to know my personality and helps me adjust to normal doggy life. I am a friendly and affectionate boy once I get to know you and feel comfortable. I have now made friends with all the staff members and it turns out that I am very treat motivated, I know how to walk on a leash and I appear to be housebroken since I never potty in my kennel. I enjoy playtime although I do not play much… yet… but I enjoy the company of the other dogs and I would rather sit in a human's lap anyway. So, I am making progress and ready for the last leg of my journey, to find a forever home. I will be moving shortly to Connecticut where I am hoping to find a family that has patience, love, and kindness, and mostly, will keep me properly groomed. Having a big bag of doggy treats would be nice too!
