AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION - SCOOTER. Scooter is precious little male Maltese mix who is around four years old and fully grown at just under ten pounds. Though Scooter is darling to look at and can be very loving, he has resource guarding (toys, treats, food) issues and will require a very special home. He may be snappy and bite if he feels his toys, treats, food or other "personal belongings" are threatened. Scooter loves other dogs but must fed separately. He does not like cats. He must be an only pet. We will not place him in a home with children and we will not place him with first time pet owners. Scooter needs experienced owners who are committed to providing professional training to help resolve his issues, and an agreement to professionally train may be a part of our adoption contract.

Scooter is crate trained and he loves to take leash walks.
He is in good health, is neutered and microchipped, and is fully vaccinated.

Our adoption process starts with your email to carerescue@aol.com or Petfinder inquiry. After we receive it, we will email you our prescreening questionnaire. Your answers will help us determine that your home and lifestyle matches the needs of the dog and our adoption criteria. Once determined, we will set up a private meeting with you and the dog at a park near our private kennel just east of Richmond. After meeting the dog and determining that it matches your preferences for a pet, we will accept your application. A home visit by one of our trained volunteers is required for all adoptions, and we will speak with your vet to ensure that you are a responsible pet owner. More information on our website at www.carerva.com.
