My story

When Grumpy arrived in May, 2022, he was in pretty bad shape both physically and emotionally.  His family had been ripped from him due to a severe stroke suffered by his owner. He was left alone in am apartment from February with someone coming to feed and walk him until he came to me in May. Grumpy, not his original name, was renamed due to his behavior and attitude. He was also suffering from "cherry eye". We arranged for that problem to be repaired and a much needed dental at the same time.  But that did not make any changes in his behavior or attitude. I could only presume that being alone for such a long period of time without any real interaction with people is to blame for this dual problem. Grumpy needs a very patient, understanding person who will help him become the sweet, friendly, King Charles I know he wants to be.  If you think you are that person please email for an application to

Additional adoption info

Meeting the dog you are interested in is an important part of the adoption process. And if you are looking for a second dog bringing your current pet along for the initial "meet n greet" is of paramount importance. The dogs do have the final say in determining the success of an adoption. If they don't get along no matter how much you like our dog it won't work. The adoption process consists of an application, home visit, contract, and donation.

Go meet their pets

More about this rescue

Wilma's Orphans Inc is a small not for profit [501c3] dog [only] rescue that works very hard finding permanent homes for dogs who need a second, third or even fourth chance at happiness. It is a one-woman operation, and I am that woman. My name is Wilma, and I've been interested in dogs all my life. After retiring from the business world it seemed only natural to follow my dream and my passion both of which involve working with dogs, and so Wilma's Orphans Inc came into being. The main objective is to rescue homeless and unwanted dogs with adoption to loving forever families the end result. Every dog is seen by a veterinarian regardless of where it came from. They are given their rabies and distemper vaccinations, dewormed and complete blood panels taken. All dogs are spayed or neutered before adoption. If there is a medical or physical problem it is taken care of to the best of my ability. Each dog's temperament and personality is well-known so prospective adopters are fully informed before adopting. Please look at all the sweet faces imploring you to take them home. You just might find the "love of your life" at Wilma's Orphans.
