My story

Meet Howard!

Helloooooooo, my name is Howard. I'm about 9 years old and weigh around 65 pounds. I'm a perfect boy in the house, even though I was an outside dog for most of my life. I don't make messes, I use the doggy door to let myself out to the fenced in yard (I really like the easy access of going out when I want or need), and I'm not destructive, so I don't need to be put in a crate or confined when you go away! I get along splendidly with the other dogs in my foster home. There are even two little old lady dogs here, and I'm very respectful of them, as a true hound gentleman should be. In fact, I would love if my new home had a dog friend for me to play with, and keep me company when my family is away! As a hound dog, I really enjoy chasing critters like chipmunks and squirrels, and I'll always let you know if I see a cat, as they are also critters in my eyes. I'd also do well with kids, but please make sure they are respectful and won't climb all over me, or pull my ears or tail.

In the mornings I'll sit and enjoy coffee with you. I really enjoy my humans and all the affection they give me. Have you ever touched a hound dog's ears? They're just like velvet, and mine are the best of the best! Good news is, if you make me part of your family you'll get to touch them whenever you want! I also really enjoy sniffing in the yard, and baying at all the things that I think might be fun to catch (or tree). When it's nap time, I'll find a nice pile of blankets or a cushy, comfy bed to curl up in! Are you a hound loving, velvety ear touching human looking to add the most perfect boy to your family? I'd be happy to join your home!

Disclaimer: It is VERY difficult even for a veterinarian to tell the exact age of a dog over two years old. From one vet to another, we can get different age estimates on the same dog and they can vary by several years. We are only making an educated guess based on a few factors like teeth, fur color, and overall body condition, but for dogs who have not been given adequate vet care and food, it can be even more difficult. Every dog is an individual, and we do our very best to age appropriately but make no guarantees as to the age of any dog in our program.

Additional adoption info

Albert's Dog Lounge is a foster-based rescue providing compassionate care to special needs, senior, and hospice dogs. Our adoption process begins with a completed application. From there, we will review references and vet records. The next step is a home visit with your family. This visit may be in person or virtual.  At that point, if approved, we will set up a meet and greet with available dogs. All dogs have an adoption fee of $275 for a single dog or $500 for (bonded) pair, unless otherwise noted. Note: Pairs must be adopted at the same time to get the reduced adoption fee. -Applications with incomplete information will not be processed. - All current dogs in the home must be spayed or neutered, up to date on rabies vaccination, up to date on DHLPP, up to date on Heartworm testing and preventative. - All cats in the home must be spayed or neutered and up to date on a rabies vaccination or wellness exam. - None of our dogs will be adopted to prospective owners who mislead or fail to provide accurate information on the adoption application and/or the adoption contract. Albert's Dog Lounge reserves the right to refuse adoption to anyone. - You must agree that if you are no longer able to keep your rescue dog for whatever reason, the dog will be returned to Albert's Dog Lounge. The adopter must agree to never attempt to sell or rehome the dog at any point. Our goal is to place our seniors into permanent, loving homes for the rest of their golden years.

More about this rescue

Albert's Dog Lounge is a foster-based rescue focused on providing loving homes to seniors, special needs, and hospice dogs. We help dogs in need from overcrowded shelters and also from local families who are no longer able to care for their pets. Albert's Dog Lounge was established in 2017 with the vision to be the stepping stone to a new life for those dogs who are less likely to be rescued, adopted, or at a higher risk for euthanasia.
