My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Opie is a handsome 3-year-old male who was an owner surrender. Most chocolate beagles have golden / hazel eyes, but Opie’s eyes are an unusual green color! Opie is a standard 15 inch and like so many of our beagles is a little chunky. He is trimming down with good diet and exercise.

Opie has great house manners. He has never had an accident and uses the dog door without any problems. Opie gets along with the other beagles in his pack. He is not much of a player but does enjoy the antics of the pups in the group! Opie would do well with another quiet canine or as an only dog. Opie rarely barks and may do fine in an apartment if the family was not gone all day.

Opie came with a history of nipping at the kids in the family. When he first came, he was terrified at finding himself surrounded by strange people and a dozen beagles! It only took him a few hours of observing the interaction of the pack and humans to know he was safe and would get lots of love. He has done so well that he was chosen to attend the dog show on the day Beagles were at Meet the Breed. Opie quietly soaked up and the pets and kisses from dozens of people and kids. He was a hit!! Opie loves to cuddle and will make a wonderful companion. He will need a family with experience and willing to give him time to trust that he will be loved.
