Trigger is on his second go-around with SoCo Rescue. In May 2021, our local law enforcement requested we impound Trigger and another dog after conducting a search warrant on a home. It appeared that Trigger and another dog had been abandoned after the suspect had left the area. Trigger's actual owner was at the hospital with her newborn baby at the time of the raid and the police eventually allowed the woman to regain custody of the pair of dogs. Soon after learning she was pregnant again, the woman decided that having two dogs, a baby and another child on the way was more than she could handle, so she requested our help in finding Trigger a new home. On the day that Scott Bennett went to pick up Trigger, he discovered that Trigger had been regulated to living outdoors, on a tether and in direct sunlight with no shade or water to help cool him from the scorching heat. Trigger instantly recognized Scott and sure was happy to be removed from his tether and have some cool water offered to him.
Trigger is really a great fellow who never received the proper training he should have gotten. He's friendly, playful and extremely affectionate and is very eager to be taught new things. He did live indoors at one time and has some house training, but a refresher course on his house training will most likely be required once in his new home. While he did get along great with his former canine companion, Trigger will need time to get accustomed to any dogs that he'll share his new home with. He was also interactive with his former owner's infant toddler and was exceptional with the young child.
Trigger has now been neutered, received an update on his annual vaccinations, been de-wormed and restarted on his monthly preventatives. He also recently tested negative for heartworms. Trigger did suffer some fur loss, most likely due to fleas, but has been treated for the fur loss and is regrowing his fur.
Trigger so deserves a home that will provide him with the love and care that he should have always been receiving. If interested in adopting this wonderful dog, please submit an application at socorescue.com (no need to register or login).
