My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Handsome Digby is ready to adopt a family that he can call his own! This gorgeous boy was found dumped in a park and left to fend for himself, infested with fleas, starving at less than 1 year old. His world changed forever when a volunteer saw him, stopped her car, opened the door, and watched as he happily jumped inside for refuge. He gets along with other dogs and enjoys being around people and was fine with kids, but he is not good with CATS – sorry! Digby would love going on walks and hikes with his new family because he enjoys investigating new surroundings! If you are craving a 4-legged friend that is gentle and devoted but at the same time maintains sweet independence, please ask us more about him! Digby is estimated to be about 18 months old, weighs 60 lbs and we suspect he is a hound mix. He is fully vetted, neutered, and microchipped. This homeless boy longs to have some humans he can bond with and see the rest of the world through their eyes.
If interested in learning more about Digby, please email Adoptions@smilingdogfarms.org and please include a phone number where you can be reached.
Please Note: We are always in need of foster homes for our dogs. If you're interested in making a difference in a dog’s life, we would love to share with you what it means to be a foster parent.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We are dedicated to ensuring that our dogs go to a "forever" loving, nurturing home. As a result, our process is stringent, requiring an application, home visit, vet and reference checks and an adoption contract. We want the adoption to be a match made in heaven for both the new adoptive parents and the adopted dog.

Go meet their pets

We provide adoption opportunities for those living in the Northeast who are willing to do long distance adoptions. Many of our dogs live in Wharton, Texas but we have very safe, reliable transport to the Northeast.

More about this rescue

Smiling Dog Farms is a 501(c) non-profit animal rescue. We strive to restore hope to the forgotten, neglected and rejected unwanted dogs and puppies rescued from the streets and local kill-shelters. Each dog that enters our rescue receives their full round of vaccinations, gets spayed or neutered, micro-chipped and placed on flea and tick and heartworm prevention. Many of our dogs live in Wharton Texas, but we have very safe, reliable transport to the Northeast.
