My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Brent is an EXTREMELY special boy!

He was once a shelter resident at Pasco County Animal Services, where he stayed for 7 months before being adopted and was a volunteer favorite. Minutes after being adopted, he slipped his collar and ran off. Unfortunately, he was on the run for 6 weeks and hit by a car around the two week mark, suffering a spinal injury that paralyzed his back end. However, he still had to fend for himself and never gave up. When he was found, he had been hiding without the use of his back legs for almost a month and had withered away losing 20lbs. He was emaciated, starving and all alone in a construction site but had the most incredible will to survive. It brings us to tears.

The rescue founder, Lea, was part of his rescue mission and there the minute he was found, so needless to say, he became a Maxx dog. She has the biggest heart and couldn't say no. Thanks to our amazing donors, he was taken to a veterinary neurologist in Sarasota and had a very expensive spinal surgery in hopes of giving him the best chance possible to walk again. He is currently recovering and doing amazing.

Through all of this - even the minute he was found - he has been the NICEST dog to absolutely everyone. Never scared, never hesitant of people. He loves everyone around him, everyone that helps him and is so happy to have his team of caregivers. You won't find a sweeter, more appreciative pup :-)

Brent is currently going through physical therapy 2x per week, cold laser therapy at a vet's office and swimming in a pool with assistance to help him regain strength in his back legs. However, Brent needs a NEW FOSTER HOME to help him continue his healing. Could you be the one to help him walk again?

Here's what needs:

  • Single story home, no stairs
  • A POOL would be AMAZING
  • Someone compassionate and dedicated to helping him
  • Someone who works from home or is retired
  • ALL SUPPLIES COVERED BY THE RESCUE
  • You will have visitors and volunteer help anytime you need it!
