My story

Buttercream was brought to us after being abandoned by his owner.  He was tied up outside for most of his life and not been given much attention or treated nicely.  He is only 20 pounds and full grown. . At first, he would not come to us, but after a little positive attention, he is eating from our hands and lets us pet him and pick him up.  He Buttercream tested positive for heartworms and is currently undergoing treatment.  He will need a special home to give him the attention and love that he deserves.  He is playful, loves other dogs, and to be in a yard to fun in.   .If you would like more information, please contact our shelter at 870-269-5200 or visit at 17379 Highway, Mountain View, Arkansas.  You can also go on-line at schspets.org and complete an adoption application.

More about this shelter

The Stone County Humane Society is a 501(C)(3) private organization, not a government entity that was formed in 1999. We rescue dogs and cats and are a no-kill shelter but we are not an open take in facility. We are currently operating from our new shelter building recently completed in August 2016 and a cat cottage. Our organization is managed by a volunteer board of 10 individuals and a full-time paid employee shelter manager that handles the day to day operations, and three part-time paid employees that feed and care for the animals and keep the facility clean. Most of our daily operations are funded by proceeds from a Second Chance Shop in town and donations from individuals. We also provide low cost spay/neuter clinics to the people of our county with help from a local vet.
