My story

Lucy is a 1½ year old Corgi/Red Heeler mix. Lucy is one of our special needs girls. Her previous owner could not afford to get her the tests and medications she needed. She has idiopathic seizures, meaning there is no known cause for them. She will always have seizures but, aside from that, she can live normal life. She has the seizure, then once she shakes it off, she is back to her normal self. The seizures do not hurt her. Right now, Lucy has a seizure about every 2 weeks. We are working on spreading them out longer, but it's a matter of trial and error with medications.

Lucy is under the care of a neurologist and her seizures have become more predictable. An interested adopter would need to continue to work on her medications, which cost under $100 a month. In addition, she would need her blood drawn regularly by a local vet to make sure her meds are working properly. Lucy needs to receive medications 3 times a day. She will need adopters who work from home or are retired so they can provide the proper care for her.

Now that you know the downside, you can get to know the real Lucy. She is a sweet, easy-going dog who loves bones, other dogs and her very own people. She is very good with cats and won’t hurt them, but she will chase them if they run. Lucy is a great walking buddy and does nicely on a leash. She’s an affectionate girl who sleeps with her foster mom and loves to get belly scratches.

Lucy has been spayed, is current on vaccinations, has tested negative for heartworm, and has been microchipped.
