My story

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Meet Dustin! This sleek and adorable kitten who looks like a mini-panther was rescued from a shelter in North Carolina. He is a sweet guy who starts purring the second you start petting him. He gets along great with other kittens and enjoys playing with his toys and snuggling with the other cats/kittens he's being fostered with. He follows his foster mom around the house and has really blossomed in the weeks he's been in foster care. He's a sensitive, sweet, soulful guy who is looking forward to finding a home of his very own.

This cat is neutered, tested negative for FIV/Felv, is up to date on shots, and litter box trained!

If you are interested in adopting, please fill out a 'Cat Adoption Application'   at
   Adoption fee is: $75

If you are interested in adopting this cat, please submit a 'Cat Adoption Application'   at
This website is updated daily.  If the animal you are interested in adopting is listed as 'available for adoption', that means the animal is still in DPR's care.

*Please note - we do not do in-person meet and greets. Potential adopters can speak to the cats foster mom on the phone or do a meeting on Zoom or Facetime if desired to virtually meet the cat. You can pick your kitty up 'curb side'. Cats can be returned with a full refund for up to one week. *

DPR cats receive the following medical care prior to adoption:

Initial vet visit
Spay or neuter (if cat is 6 months or older)
Rabies vaccination (if cat is 6 months or older)
Distemper vaccination
SNAP testing for FIV, Leukemia and heart worm
Broad spectrum dewormers
Monthly flea/tick preventative
Ear mite preventative
The above is standard for ALL cats in our care. But many cats we rescue also require some additional TLC prior to adoption, such as antibiotics, eye ointments, wound care, fungal treatment, x-rays, or various surgeries.  We are an all-volunteer 501(c)3 charity. The adoption fee helps to offset our standard and non-standard vet bills.

More about this rescue

Visit our site at if you are interested in one of our pets. DPR was established in 2004 as a 501(c) non profit organize and an all volunteer rescue organization. We are not a shelter. We rescue both cats and dogs. We care for these pets in our foster homes until proper and stable homes are found through a multi-step adoption process. Our ultimate goal is to match families with our pets so that they live out their lives in loving, educated, safe homes for the remainder of their lives. Our additional goals in rescue are to educate the public in the importance of spaying/neutering and exposing the truth behind pet store puppys and the horrors of puppy mills.
