My story

Clayton was turned in to the shelter through no fault of his own. He is a super chill guy who enjoys lounging on the couch and watching his people. He does need another dog/playmate and needs a backyard or a place to exercise. He is a known fence jumper so the yard needs a tall fence and he is not fond of riding in the car. If you would like more information about Clayton, please visit and complete an adoption application.

More about this rescue

The Basset Rescue Crew of the Southeast (BaRCSE) was incorporated in 2009 in South Carolina. We received 501(c)3 non-profit status from the IRS in March 2010. We are entirely volunteer staffed and managed. Our goal is to become a multi-state rescue with volunteers and contacts throughout the Southeast that has the ability to safely transport and re-home needy basset hounds wherever they will find a loving home. Our focus will first and foremost be rescuing and providing necessary medical care to hounds who are in jeopardy of being euthanized. We will foster each hound and determine their unique personality; then our focus will be to find an appropriate, loving, forever home for each of our homeless bassets. We are also hoping to build a quality educational format to educate the public and potential basset hound owners about the unique personalities and needs of basset hounds along with educating the public about the necessity of spaying/neutering their pets.
