My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello, I'm Harlow, a beautiful black panther gal with mesmerizing green eyes!

Because of my easy-going, loving nature, my friends at MaxFund cannot figure out why I am still here after 609 days ??. In that time, 5 of my fellow diabetic roommates have gone to their forever homes. I have at times felt left behind, confused and sad. I was returned TWICE through no fault of my own - my owners moved. My last owners dropped me off in Nov 2022 and promised they'd be back for me. I kept waiting and looking for them out my window, but they never showed up. I am 8 yrs young; an easy, loving lap cat, not at all aggressive. I will love to curl up in your lap or sun myself on a cat tower or window ledge. If you want a relaxed, no-fuss, chill gal - well, that's me! I lived very successfully w/ a 30# dog. I do need to be your only cat but get along fine with all ages of humans. I easily handle my twice/ daily insulin shots -- if you are concerned about giving shots, please don't be. It is simple, fast (about 2 seconds) and does not hurt me... just give me some food beforehand and I'm putty in your hands! So if you've ever felt deflated by someone returning a gift you gave them, then you know how I have felt. Yet I remain resilient, loving and know that my forever home is out there, somewhere! Could it possibly be with you, or someone you know? I'll be looking for you!

More about this shelter

The MaxFund is a non-profit organization that was established in May of 1988 to provide medical care for injured pets with no known owners, and to seek out new homes for these animals once they have recovered. The MaxFund is a no-kill dog and cat shelter. MaxFund assists hundreds of people and animals each year by trying to make the correct match between owner and pet. MaxFund adopts our animals to Colorado residents only.

The MaxFund is a TRUE no-kill shelter. There is no pre-sorting of animals into "adoptable" and "non-adoptable" categories, discarding the so-called "unadoptable." The MaxFund takes every animal it has the space for. EVERY animal is kept until its owner is found or it is placed in a new adoptive home.
