My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This sweetpea is Ellie Mae, who was rescued as a stray and in need if medical attention by a Good Samaritan. They hoped this would be her forever home, but an impending divorce upset her little world and Ellie Mae started to struggle with her caretaker being away at work for long hours.

We've since found her foster with a retiree and she's as easy as a pup can be. She goes with the flow, lounging around and enjoying her quiet routine. She is the kind of roommate we all hope for, but often don't get. A great little companion.

Little Ellie's senior bloodwork came out great and she just had a dental. Like many jacks, she suffers from allergies. She requires quarterly cytopoint injections, along with regular soothing baths. Aside from this, she's a sweet, low-maintenance little gal who is ready to add a little sunshine to someone's world.

Age 11

Weight: 20 lbs

Temperament: Kid and dog-friendly; seems other animal friendly minus chipmunks

Training: Potty-trained, well-mannered; does not care for crates

Vetting: Spayed, UTD on vax, heartworm negative, recent dental

To ensure we're meeting both pet and adopters' needs, we ask potential adopters to complete an Adoption Application (www.bit.ly/DH-Adoption) for caretakers to review. Once your application is approved, we will bring the adoptable pet to your home for a preliminary visit.

We are 100% donation-funded and our fees are equivalent to (or less than) the cost to fully vet a new dog yourself. Please expect an adoption fee of $300; some of our urgent or long-term dogs have discounted fees.
