My story

Chase (nicknamed Blu) is a one-to-two-year-old, 30 lb cattle dog currently being fostered in Venice, FL (Sarasota County). Hit by a car on July 4th, orthopedic surgery has been completed and he is in the healing phases..He is using his leg, needs lots of walks and controlled exercise and will be able to run jump play ball when all is said and done. The catch now is he is heartworm positvie.  We will be starting treatment in the next month and would like to have a foster for him in place.  NEW FOSTER NEEDED ASAP!

His current foster must have surgery and will be over a month in recover.

Chase has come out of his shell, and is a very friendly boy with all people. He has not been exposed to children, but he has a smooth chill temperament and we see no issues there. Despite all his tough luck, Chase loves his people,  he will follow his people from room to room and settles down with them. He loves being petted! Chase knows how to ask to go out , He has been very respectful of other dogs. Chase would benefit from training to strengthen his house manners, jumping and leash skills. He has come to love toys, squeaky toys and will entertain him self..

Overall, he is crate trained, house broke, leash trained. Obedient, kind and good with other dogs. Cats unknown. Chase is a wonderful dog and would make a great companion for anyone! Chase requires a home with a fenced-in yard. FOSTER NEEDED ASAP!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We require potential adopters to fill out an Adoption Application. When that is approved we can arrange for the prospective adopter to meet the dog they are interested in. We do require an adoption contract to be signed at time of adoption. We conduct home visits. There is an adoption fee that is usually around $250 per dog to cover any expenses we have incurred. We do have dogs located at qualified fosters throughout the state and also out of state.

Go meet their pets

Since all rescue dogs live in our homes with us or in foster homes, you will need to travel to meet any dog you might want to adopt. You will need to contact Ewenity Farms HDH to make arrangements to meet the rescue dog.

More about this rescue

We are a small rescue organization located in Southwest Florida. Being small helps us give more one on one attention to individual dogs and their needs. Rescued dogs are kept in our homes and treated as our own. Herding dogs are unique. They are a highly intelligent and require much of the owner’s attention. The dogs are evaluated, when they come into the rescue, for any temperament and health issues. Then they are given basic obedience, socialization and rehabilitation as it is necessary. It is our sole purpose to find forever homes for these loving, wonderful dogs that have been discarded through no fault of their own. All adopted dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on shots, heartworm negative, micro-chipped, and on flea and heartworm preventative.
