My story

Sweet Sue is a spayed female Basenji/Patterdale Terrier mix born 6/3/2019. She is a medium sized girl weighing approximately 30-35 pounds. Sweet Sue loves to do zoomies around her people and then hang out with them in the yard. She does the cute Basenji hop throwing her legs in the air when joyful and can make the Basenji bugel rather than a traditional bark. Basenji dogs have a high prey drive. She has been fine around other dogs while leashed, but would probably be best to live in an only-dog home and no cats or small animals.

Sweet Sue likes to cuddle and will happily lay next to you on the couch. She has been friendly towards her foster family and any people she has met. She enjoys a lovely stroll or a hike. She is a sensitive and playful girl.

Sweet Sue rides well in the car. She has good manners, walks nicely on the leash, is crate trained and house trained.  Sweet Sue comes from a neglectful home and would love to have some happy new experiences like rides to the park and other fun times. She is looking for an easygoing family with a fenced yard.

The adoption fee for Sweet Sue is $250. She is spayed, microchipped and heart worm negative. She is up to date on vaccines, worming, and flea prevention.

Sweet Sue currently lives in Rutherford County, NC.

More about this rescue

Lee Shore is a collective of women with a shared passion for animals. The rescue was founded in 2017 by Paulina Putnam and Alison Shanahan, who had each worked in rescue for a number of years and recognized a need for a rescue that served animals who couldn't be adopted right away. These animals were pregnant, too young, or in need of physical or psychological rehabilitation. Both Paulina and Alison had her own unique talents. Paulina had successfully rehabilitated many dogs when others had pronounced the case impossible. Alison had a passion for the mothers and babies. They started Lee Shore with these distinct goals in mind: to bring in those rehab, maternity, and pediatric cases who aren't ready for adoption now, but who can be made ready for life as a companion with the right care. This remains our mission. In the three years since our founding, we have saved over four hundred animals, and we hope to continue to grow and fight for the voiceless.
