My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Gracie is hoping to be a perfect guardian for your livestock. She is a 2.5 year old loyal girl with a drive to keep goats and other animals safe. She has excelled on her home farm where she has lived for the past 6 months, spending her time outside with her animal companions. Unfortunately, some changes have come up in her adopter's life and Gracie is now looking for a new property to look after. Her return is not a reflection of her behavior or ability to perform her duties! This is a return out of changing circumstance in her adopter's personal life and it has not been an easy decision.
Gracie does well with other dogs and has past experience at HSAR with play dates. That being said, she may not enjoy other dogs coming into her pen or space while guarding livestock. She holds a deep and lasting connection with those she trusts. She takes her work seriously and coexists beautifully with goats and sheep. No cows or poultry.
We are hoping to place her in a home and keep her in a working setting that will be beneficial for her.

Personality: Takes some time to get comfortable, mellow, affectionate once she trusts, driven to keep others safe, outdoors enthusiast
Other dogs: occasionally selective but she loves to run and play with friends
Livestock: Incredible guardian dog to goats and sheep
Kids: not recommended
Ideal home: Property and animals to protect, loves having a job.

A note from Jazzy, her caregiver at HSAR: "It took awhile for Gracie to adjust and for her to accept me, but when she did I was greeted with wags. She adores when it snows, and loves chasing snowballs and rolling around in the fresh snow. She never lets any other dogs jump on me and is very protective of her people. Once Gracie loves you, you just become hers and that's that. Honestly one of the sweetest, loving, and most loyal friends anyone could ask for. Gracie is a blessing to whoever has the chance of adopting her."
