My story

Buddy is an adorably marked, neutered Boxer/Great Dane mix who is 2-3 years old. He’s a fun, intelligent and loving companion who is looking for a new home due to no fault of his own or behavior issue. Sadly, his first Dad was a Veteran and had an incurable illness.  Buddy is house trained and knows basic commands like sit, shake, go to bed, and he waits until you tell him it’s ok to go eat when you put his food down. Loves car rides, walks on a leash—in fact lifts his paws for you to put on his harness. Energetic so would like a fenced in yard, or a very active owner. Chases cats outside, so probably not a good cat brother. Can be shy around new people, so local adoption only so he can meet his new people prior to going home with them. Great dog who will alert to strangers outside but adore and charm his family members. Local adoption only. Adoption Fee $75. This covers the cost of spay/neuter, DHPP, Rabies, Flea, tick, heart worm check, worm treatment, and microchip. To adopt, you need to first fill out an application. Go to:

More about this shelter

Rutherford County Humane Society is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization that has been serving Rutherford County since 1979, with the mission to significantly improve the lives of unwanted and neglected animals, and to measurably decrease this number through our spay and neuter programs, volunteer foster homes, and outreach and education. We are an independent organization that works in collaboration with other area animal advocacy groups. All of our efforts depend on our passionately compassionate volunteers, and financial support from the community. We have made the decision to use our resources to continue promoting the number one solution to our pet overpopulation problem - and that is spay/neuter. Our mailing address is still PO Box 998, Rutherfordton, NC 28139. Our website ( is always current, and you can contact us through the web. You will receive a prompt reply.
