My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Kalvin!

Bless this little man's heart. We do not know his backstory, but we do know he was brought to us by a good Samaritan. He was on his own, very thin and matted and with crusted over eyes. We took him to our vet and they determined he has a dry eye condition which requires regular drops and very patchy skin under all the mats. We have had him a couple of weeks and have been working on getting him to a healthier weight, using eye drops three times a day and giving him medicated baths for his poor skin twice a week. He is already looking and feeling so much better.

It is hard to know for sure, but from the condition of his teeth our vet thinks he may be about ten years old. Now that he's feeling better, he's got good energy and much brighter eyes. He still needs a little more time to get weight on and keep improving his skin before he able to be neutered. But in the meantime, we would love for him to have a loving family to share his life with. If you are willing to consider giving him a home while he continues to improve, JoJo's will have him neutered when the vet feels he is ready for that. Normally we would keep him until he is neutered, but we just think it would be so much nicer for him to already be with his loving forever family in the meantime.

Kalvin would do best in a home with no children or children over 10. He is older and a little too small for young children. We do not know if he's ever been around cats. His "special need" is that he likely will need to stay on eye drops for his dry eye condition for life. Initially he will continue to need bi-weekly medicated baths to finish clearing up his skin condition, and he needs to gain more weight, but those are not ongoing special needs.

If you think you might like to give Kalvin a wonderful life, please email jojosdogrescue@gmail.com and we will send you an application, or visit our website: www.jojosdoghouse.com and download one. Adoption fee is $250, which includes neuter, up-to-date vaccinations, parasite treatment, and microchip with lifetime registration.
