Hello my name is Orchid, orchids are often seen as a symbol of strength and resilience. Coming all the way from Saudi Arabia to Canada and a past life on the streets I was reluctant to trust humans when I first arrived. I have been through countless days of training in attempt to be the best dog I can be. Passing my training with flying colours i am very eager to get back into the world and share my love with a new family.
I am looking for an adventure buddy, someone who is playful, and would enjoy exploring. I walk well on a leash and have excellent recall skills, I even respond to cute nicknames- i will zoom over and look up longingly for a treat. I need proper exercise and mental stimulation as they are key for my success, i love learning new tricks and playing brain games. I have already mastered all the basic commands and would love to learn new creative ones! Stuffies are no match for me, I love to show ‘em who’s boss and have the fluff fly everywhere!
I get along well with other well- balanced dogs, and thrive in an environment where I can run and play around with my doggy friends. I would also do well in a house with another dog who can match my energy, and not only play with, but learn from too, or as a solo dog so I get your full and undivided attention, but no cats please! I would also be fine with respectful kids 13+.
Having trust issues I can be cautious and nervous around strangers at first, but with time I can learn to trust and get comfortable with new people. When I get scared I often look at my human for reassurance instead of reacting. My new family should be committed to continuing my training to ensure ongoing success. Previous dog experience would definitely be an asset for whoever decided to adopt me, but as long as my new family is willing to learn how to best support me, I will be a happy and good girl.
My ideal forever home I am hoping for is in a quieter area ( rural or suburban) as the city life is too overwhelming. A backyard to play in would definitely be a plus! My paws are crossed for an understanding, patient family who would help this fun-loving and playful girl meet her full potential. I hope to be worthwhile, while I attempt to bring your life happiness!
Having waited to be adopted for 4 years now I have come to understand that it is hard to bring someone with a troubled past into a loving home. However, I have worked long and hard to be the best dog I an be. I cant wait to meet my new family, BFF and partner in crime! Apply to adopt Orchid today: www.caninehaven.org/dog-application
