My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Gemini

Gemini is a young adult who came to the shelter with 4 litter mates almost 2 years ago. Three have been adopted, but Gemini and her brother Remi are still looking for homes.

She's always happy to greet you and extra sweet and gentle. She's patient and tolerant. She wags her tail and takes treats ever so delicately. You'll love looking into her soulful, loving eyes.

Gemini has come a long way since arriving at the shelter. She's grown more confident and enjoys going for walks and exploring the world outside the shelter gate. She will still benefit from patient, steady training. Slow and steady is the way to go with Gemini, letting her take her time.

Gemini will do best as an only dog in a quieter home with an active single person or adult only family. Her ideal home has a fenced yard so she can run and play, and a person dedicated to giving her exercise walks. It would be great if she could be adopted with her brother Remi!

After a DNA test, we were surprised to learn test that Gemini is 50% Great Pyrenees, 14.3% Bluetick Coonhound,13.7% Chow Chow, 11.7% Labrador Retriever and 10.3% German Shepherd.

She is spayed, up to date on shots, micro-chipped, heart warm negative and ready to go home!

More about this rescue

Save The Animals Rescue Team II (S.T.A.R.T. II), started in 1989, is a non-profit, 501 (c) 3 status organization dedicated to alleviating the plight of homeless and abandoned companion animals. Twice a week we visit a local pound and take as many adoptable animals as we can. These animals are provided veterinary care, clean living conditions, exercise and socialization.

We work with potential adopters to find that perfect match…..giving them a "fur"- ever home for life. In addition, we educate the public on the importance of spaying/neutering as well as offering low cost options, vaccinations, preventive medications, and proper living conditions for their new and existing pets.

This lifesaving work is critical for many of these unfortunate animals, since their only crime was to be born unwanted. Since our inception, we have rescued and placed over 7,000 dogs and cats.
