Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Wilbur is a 7-year-old tricolor beagle who was found stray in the Houston area. He is a sweet, medium energy boy who loves to take naps on the couch and give kisses. He is perfect on housetraining with access to a doggie door. He gets along well with other dogs and would probably enjoy having doggie playmates in his forever home. He has some separation anxiety and does not like being crated. Currently, he is only crated when his foster mom leaves the house, since during the night he is allowed to sleep wherever he wants, and his favorite spot seems to be the couch. He does not seem bothered by thunderstorms and sleeps right through them.
Wilbur loves to go on leash walks, and he walks pretty fast. He tends to pull on the leash, particularly when he catches a scent of a squirrel or another dog and gets in hunting mode. One of his favorite activities is to try to drink water from the garden hose when his foster mom is washing the patio.
When he was found, Wilbur was very overweight and had a skin infection and hair loss. Since being in HBHR’s care he has lost weight and his fur has grown back. Wilbur is considered special needs because his thyroid is low, and he needs to take daily medication to keep it at normal levels. He is heartworm positive and will be adopted out with the remainder of his one-year supply of Advantage Multi.
Wilbur will make a wonderful companion for a lucky family. If you would like to meet Wilbur, please fill out an application.
