My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Garfunkel, a handsome, White, Maine Coon with Brown Tabby markings and a gentle, sweet disposition.

This boy (and his more tame brother, Simon) were rescued from a colony at Providence Holy Cross Medical Center (in Mission Hills, CA) where they were being fed by the kind nurses and hospital staff. The plan was to TNR (hence the ear tip) but the night I drove to release them, there was a coyote hunting near their feeding station. I just didn't have the heart to put them back out there.

This is why they're a little more difficult to place because they were older than most kittens and were feral before they came to live with me.

Garfunkel's brother, Simon, is much more tame and will gently climb into your lap, loves having his belly rubbed and begins purring upon contact.

Garf, however, has remained more "reserved" and will seek out attention and affection - but on his terms. He does love to greet me - once I've entered the room and sat down... and enjoys getting pet and scratched along his back, body and head... even rolling over for belly rubs and purring grandly.

But, if he gets spooked he'll bolt or may even lash out with a clawed swat. This is why I'm listing him as "special needs" since he'll need an adopter who understands this kind of behavior.

I've been raising them together and so they are bonded - but would be willing to split them up as long as they were going to a home with another affectionate, playful feline.

Garfunkel is currently helping raise two litters of young kittens and he absolutely dotes on them, grooming and carefully watching them. He's not aggressive, at all - with another cat.

Basically, the perfect home would be a more calm environment where he (and his brother?) can feel safe. Perhaps an adopter with the heart of a rescuer - who'll understand their shyness, at times.

Garfunkel's adoption will include his:
* Neuter,
* De-worming,
* FVRCP vaccinations,
* Rabies vaccination,
* Combo-test (for FIV/FeLV = negative),
* Flea and mite treatment (with Revolution),
* and Micro chipping!

~ $200 adoption fee for Simon and Garfunkel - as a bonded pair. Adoption contract and home check apply ~

* Please only contact us if you'll be making Garfunkel a permanent member of your household and will be keeping him safe indoors.

* We do not adopt out kittens or cats where they will be the only pet at home. Kittens rely on each other for emotional support and continued social and behavioral development. For example: another kitten or cat will teach them when they're playing too rough or biting too hard. Plus, cats and kittens get very lonely when you're not at home! Having a playmate will keep them happier, healthier and out of trouble. **We offer a discount when adopting a pair!

* You can also find all our adoptables on our Facebook page: "Save The Leadwell Kitties" (including their rescue story, photos and video updates).

*** We are overflowing with kittens - of all colors, patterns and coat lengths... all hand-raised with loving humans (some in partnership with their birth Mamas).

Interested in becoming a much-needed foster? Please send us a message with your best contact info, the type of home environment you can provide and, most-importantly, the City in which you live. Thanks!
