My story

SPECIAL NEEDS! Stella came to us with four 10-day old babies! She and a number of other cats were surrendered to FCS when their keepers got in over their heads with too many cats in their home. Stella is sweet and playful little lady. She warms up to humans fairly quickly and enjoys head pets and scritches! Stella would love nothing more to find a calm, quiet, and loving forever home of her very own. She is very affectionate and would do best in a home with other cats. Stella may also love to be adopted with one of her adorable siblings!

Stella was recently diagnosed with agressive mamary cancer and skin cancer was also detected in the tissue that was removed. She is considered a hospice kitty who needs a dedicated adopter or foster. We do not know how much time she has, but she appears to be very healthy at this time. Please consider sharing your home with this angel.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

The Ferndale Cat Shelter vets and helps place cats and kittens from our community. We ask just $60 per cat or kitten over 6 months and $100 per kitten under 6 months, seniors (over 5) are $40. This includes spay/neuter, vaccinations, and microchipping. We do not give away cats or kittens.

1. Complete an adoption form at http://ferndalecatshelter.org/forms-and-applications/adoption-application/. We use this to try to determine good matches and to check out the potential adopter prior to meeting the potential pet.

2. We schedule a meeting with potential adopters and potential new family members to assess if this is a great match for everyone.

3. If everything clicks, we schedule a visit to the potential adopter's home where we go through our contract step by step. http://ferndalecatshelter.org/forms-and-applications/adoption-contract/

4. The cats or kittens are then delivered to their new home and the adoption fee is collected. The new family member will be up to date on shorts and spayed/neutered.

Go meet their pets

Most of our pets are available through foster homes and arrangements will be scheduled at agreeable times with all parties.

We also have cats and kittens at our Catfe Lounge (821 Livernois in Ferndale) and can make arrangements for meetups there.
