My story

This is Junie Junie is a very affectionate, goofy little guy with the cutest underbite. He's eight pounds and three years old. Junie enjoys being in someone’s lap or arms, giving kisses, playing with toys, running around with his doggy friends, and going to the dog park. Junie does well with other dogs and children. Sometimes he can be fearful of men and large dogs but for the most part he is sociable. He doesn’t have an aggressive bone in his body, he just gets nervous. We believe Junie was abused because he gets scared of loud noises, air blowing in his face, and sudden movements like reaching over his back. We have been working on acclimating and socializing him. Junie gets attached quickly and follows me around everywhere. He is crate trained, potty trained, and leash trained. He usually sleeps in my bed and doesn’t wake up in the middle of the night. Junie would do best in a calm home with someone who can give him plenty of attention and a lap to cuddle on.

Animal Rescue Recon makes sure that each dog is current on its vaccinations, has been or will be spayed or neutered, and is microchipped to help keep pets out of the shelters and get them back home where they belong. Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Our adoptions fees are determined to help recover our expenses put into the dog for vaccinations, spay/neuter, and microchip. The fee is normally $300 and in some cases could be less. We will perform a home-check and/or require pictures of your yard's fencing & gates. Typically we do not adopt to families with children under the age of 5 unless we know the history of the dog or have witnessed the animal's exposure and reaction to small children. If you currently own a pet, controlled introductions will be scheduled. Renters must provide a copy of their lease agreement which reflects the property's pet policy.

More about this rescue

Animal Rescue Recon, Inc. was established in September 2012 by a group of dedicated, hard-working animal lovers, all with a passion to make a difference and give unwanted animals a second chance. Based out of Oakley, CA, Animal Rescue Recon serves East Contra Costa County - an area that has minimal options for homeless or abandoned animals. Our all-volunteer group has various levels of experience in the field of animal rescue, but all have a heart for helping to find forever homes for our voiceless, furry friends. We have no paid staff - we operate solely on volunteers and services donated by members of the community and local businesses.
