My story

PLEASE NOTE: We do not adopt our fosters to anyone further than a 1-hour drive from Albany, NY.

Buddy's staff could no longer take care of him after being in the hospital for a period of time. AnimaLovers stepped in and took him in. He is a totally docile cat to both humans and other cats. When he came to us he spent his days under the bed with his head down between his paws. He has since learned life is good and he looks up more often! He likes to be petted in his cat bed & will purr up a storm sometimes kneading & sometimes drooling with happiness! You can pick him up and cuddle him - but he is not real fond of it. You can also hold him in your lap and he will stay for a while before wanting to get down. He still hides under the bed sometimes but less and less often. He likes the outdoor catio his foster home has as you can see in the pictures! Yes, he is a big boy weighing in at around 15 lbs!

Why adoption is a great option

Buddy, a Albany Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Albany, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Albany.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Albany already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Albany breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Albany paves the way for another one to be saved.
