Great is 2.5 years ago and weighs 47 lbs.
She's being rehomed because she is timid and nervous around small children; she has exhibited herding behaviors such as nipping behind them which scares them. Current guardians have 9 grandchildren who love to be around Greta, but she is unpredictable. Although she doesn't display aggressiveness, guardians don't know what to do to change this behavior.
Bite Incident: 20 July 2022. Animal control was not involved, skin was not broken, nipped on butt. Grandson was running away with one of Greta's toys and she lunged at him, nipping and pinching his butt. She frequently will be behind new people in the house and herd them from behind with her mouth. She never breaks any skin. Happens only inside the home. Once she gets familiar with new people, she is fine.
Greta knows all basic comnmands such as come, sit, lay down, paw, get in cage, go for a walk, go for a ride, go outside, do your business. She loves her schedule and will let you know when she needs to go out. She stays in her cage at night. She is afraid of thunderstorms and fireworks. She is nervous around other dogs but will approach and sniff socially. She's extremely loyal, protective, and obediant to her guardians.
What current guardians say about children: Greta has not lived with children so they don't recommend adopting with children in the home. She is nervous around little ones because they move quickly; outside she is fine, but inside she exhibits the herding behaviors. Guardians keep her on a tight leash around children in the home and is approachable as long as the children don't quickly jump at her. She has not exhibited aggressive behavior, but will jump away if she feels uncomfortable.
What current guardians say about dogs: Greta has not lived with other dogs, so they don't recommend adopting with dogs in the home. Outside the home, she wants to approach other dogs and socialize but is nervous initially. At the park Greta is around dog walkers, will stop and sniff, but [they] keep a tight leash.
What current guardians say about cats: Greta has not lived with cats, so they don't recommend adopting with cats in the home. Their daughter has a cat and GSD and Greta was fine the last time they were in the home together. They seem to stay away from each other and coexist.
Greta has full access to the home, as one of her guardians works from home; she sleeps in her cage at night and loves car rides.
Greta's guardians describe the ideal family/home as: One with a fenced-in yard would be nice; however she loves going for her walks and playtime each day. She needs execise and loves to run and chase her ball. Someone that works from home or is retired without any small children woud be perfect. She will not be happy in a cage all day. She may adjust to another pet but an adult-only home with out any other pets or kids would be perfect. She is very loyal and obedient to her owners.
