My story

This sweet old man was placed on an euthanasia list due to his age and blindness. He was found as a stray in the streets and never reclaimed. We couldn't let him down so we scooped him up and brought him into our care. He found a foster and has been doing really well, the foster says: "He is doing pretty well with navigation but I have him in a harness and leash on him to guide him until he is more familiar. He does startle easy so we talk to him as we approaching so he knows we are there. He has had no accidents in the house and likes to mark the yard as his. He isn't a snuggler but loves butt scratches and did get up on the love seat with me today. He has been good with my other girl dog. He may have a bit of anxiety if he is feeling stressed or in unfamiliar places. He has been an absolute joy so far and I am so happy to be his FM and give him a loving place to be."
Hershey is currently going through heartworm treatment and has some arthritis in his front elbows, but he is so worthy of love and finding a Furever home for his golden years.

More about this rescue

The mission of Always & Furever Midwest Animal Sanctuary is to provide our senior furry friends a home in a loving, healthy living room setting. Here they can comfortably live out their lives, be they measured in weeks, months or years. We will help any animal that is last left on the euthanasia list - no matter how sick or old they are. We strive to appreciate every day with these animals as if its our last and make sure their time waiting for a furever home is just as loved as if they were already home.
