My story

Pigeon is one of 11 dogs that SPCA rescued from an overwhelmed dog owner who suddenly passed away, leaving the pups behind with no next of kin. These dogs have been through a traumatic experience, but are slowly learning to trust our team and blossom into their true personalities.

Pigeon is a very sweet and calm girl who is the best emotional support for our girl Dove, she is good with most other dogs and is pretty quiet. She is more extroverted compared to Dove, and when she gets outside, she really lets her extroverted self shine bright and true! She loves loads of hugs, kisses and pets sooooo many pets! Her and her sister are a bonded pair and need each other to be the best girls ever, and they need to be in a quiet and calm environment that will let them take their time getting to know and learn to love their furrever home!

Dogs who have not been appropriately socialized (meaning that they may not have been lovingly handled and petted, not raised indoors, not given toys, etc.) can often grow up to be fearful and skittish of people and the sights and sounds of
what we would consider normal home environments. They typically do best in calm, quiet homes where they can be allowed to slowly adjust at their own pace and begin their journey toward learning to trust. Some dogs will remain fearful and skittish their whole lives, some may become affectionate towards familiar people, and others might become friendly to people in general.

Patience, realistic expectations and a good match in a home environment are the keys to success!

Visit any time we are open Tuesday-Saturday from 12pm-5pm to foster or adopt one of these special pups!
