My story

Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jooolllleeeenne...

Now that we have that song stuck in your head, meet Jolene! She won't steal your man, but she will steal you heart!

Jolene is about 2 years old and full of bouncy energy! Jolene is a believed to be a hound/heeler mix! She loves to sniff around in the yard, so she needs a good fenced yard where she can safely burn energy! Once she got settled, she would thrive with training as she loves pleasing people. Her forever home must be ready to give her lots of exercise to avoid problems later! She seems to do well with dogs she was tested with, and we are unsure about cats at this time (we will test.)

If you would like to add Jolene to your family., fill out an application at www.barktownrescue.org.

JOLENE'S ADOPTION FEE IS $170

The shelter software system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of our dogs we are only guessing at the dog's predominant breed or breed mix. We strongly encourage you to select your new pet by looking at each dog's individual personality and pet qualities rather than relying on a breed label that is only our best guess.

Our adoption fees vary from $150 and up.  All of our dogs are up to date on vaccines, heart worm preventives, and flea/tick medication, and will be spayed/neutered prior to adoption. Portions of your adoption fee also help care for the sick and injured animals that we take in.  Thank you for supporting us and considering a rescue dog!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We do require an application to be completed. This can be completed at www.BarktownRescue.org. Once this is approved, we can set the applicant up with the foster to meet the dog. If the person decides to adopt at that point, we do have a contract that needs to be signed. ** Please note, it may take 2-3 business days for your application to be processed. Please let us know if you do not hear from us after that time period.

Go meet their pets

Once an application is completed and approved, we can set up a meeting. You can also visit our website, www.BarktownRescue.org, or our facebook page, www.Facebook.com/BarktownRescue for the events where we will have our wonderful dogs at!

More about this rescue

Barktown is a place that no matter how small, every life counts. We are here to give dogs a second chance to find the love they deserve. We are advocates for the outcast, a voice for the unwanted. We are a 100% volunteer based rescue; where we rescue because it is our passion, our mission to saves lives. This is not a job for us, but a need to help the helpless. If you are interested in volunteering for us and helping us out in the many areas we need volunteers, please email Nikki at nikki@barktownrescue.org for a volunteer application. There are many oppurtunities available!
