My story

Jersey was such a pitiful case. She was picked up as a stray, starving, with scabs all over her face and wounds on her body.  She also tested positive for heartworms and successfully finished treatment (he does have to be on HeartWorm preventative). Jersey has been a sweetheart from the start; she craves attention and can't get enough treats. We have not noticed any aggression from her, even when other dogs are not being so nice.  She would be best as an outside dog as we do not believe she has ever been in a home and spends most of her time here in her outside kennel.  We think she is about 6-7 years old and now weighs 60lbs. Jersey needs a chance to finish her life smothered with love.  If you would like more information, please contact our shelter at 870-269-5200 or visit at 17379 Highway 9, Mountain View, Arkansas.  You can also go on-line at schspets.org and complete an adoption application.

More about this shelter

The Stone County Humane Society is a 501(C)(3) private organization, not a government entity that was formed in 1999. We rescue dogs and cats and are a no-kill shelter but we are not an open take in facility. We are currently operating from our new shelter building recently completed in August 2016 and a cat cottage. Our organization is managed by a volunteer board of 10 individuals and a full-time paid employee shelter manager that handles the day to day operations, and three part-time paid employees that feed and care for the animals and keep the facility clean. Most of our daily operations are funded by proceeds from a Second Chance Shop in town and donations from individuals. We also provide low cost spay/neuter clinics to the people of our county with help from a local vet.
