My story

We can't speak highly enough of Miracle, our little dog who beat the odds. This resilient girl was hours from death when she came to our rescue. She was a forgotten "yard dog" and was quite neglected. Now she is thriving in every way!

Miracle has turned into a very active, sweet and affectionate girl that loves to give kisses. She will steal a French Kiss every chance she gets. She has become extremely attached to her foster and is basically her shadow. Her adopter will need to work with her so she doesn’t develop an unhealthy attachment to her person and doesn’t develop separation anxiety when left alone. She currently does very well in a crate and sleeps in it quietly during the night. Her adopter will need to be diligent in making sure she continues to develop confidence being alone.

She has learned how to relax on the couch and is still learning how to interact with other dogs. She has been very aloof to them and keeping her distance but is now laying on the couch with them. She was scared of cats initially but now just ignores them like they don’t exist.

She has picked up house training very well.

She does have a slight intermittent gimp in her back right leg. Her veterinarian has determined that she has a mild luxating patella that is not causing any pain and does not need surgery for it at this time. It was also noted on X-rays that Miracle is truly unique. Instead of having the normal 7 lumbar vertebrae that all dogs have she actually has 8 of them! It doesn’t seem to cause any issues with her but we can’t guarantee there won’t be any issues later in life.

We believe that Miracle is ready to start looking for her forever home so we will start accepting applications on her. We are anticipating lots of interest in her and will be looking for the best fit for her. We will keep searching until the perfect person or family is found.

We require an application, home check, positive vet reference, and that all past and present animals in the home are fixed, vaccinated, and current on heartworm prevention year-round. Current/past pets must see a traditional veterinarian (not just a low-cost/SPCA/shot clinic) at least yearly. Your current/past pets must have a proven track record of excellent veterinary care. Current/past pets must be indoor only and may not have access to the yard unaccompanied (no doggie doors). Because our animals live in private foster homes as opposed to a shelter, we require an approved application before setting up a meet and greet. Adoption fee is based on the age of the dog being adopted. If you are serious about adopting, please fill out our application and return it to sospetrescue@yahoo.com.
