My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

SPECIAL NEEDS FRENCHIE- SHE WAS DIAGNOSED WITH HEMIVERTEBRA AND WALKS WITH A WABELY GATES. DOESN'T NOT REQUIRE SURGERY AT THIS TIME BUT MIGHT IN THE FUTURE. WE DO NOT ADOPT OUT OF STATE UNLESS YOU HAVE A SECOND HOME IN FLORIDA. NO SMALL CHILDREN FOR HER SAFETY- Sophia Rose is a 1-year-old cream Frenchie that weighs approximately 19 pounds. She was a breeder surrender, however she has morphed into a healthy, happy and extremely energetic cuddle bug. She loves other dogs, cats, and especially humans. She was diagnosed with hemivertebra by a local neurosurgeon and we learned it was due to a genetic abnormality. Although she was a candidate for surgery, we were told it would not fix the underlying issue - her crooked spine. The surgeon stated that she has adapted and is not in pain, so we opted for a non-surgical trial of prednisone and this has seemed to improved her gait, although she does walk a little wobbly. No worries though|this does not slow her down one bit! She currently is not on any medication, however as we don't have a crystal ball, we don't know what the future looks like for her. She may need to be on a short course of steroids or NDSAID's in the future. Like all other Frenchie's, she's prone to allergies, so ensure you're regularly cleaning her ears and adorable facial folds. Now for the good stuff~She is pee pad trained; however she still has occasional accidents and will go potty outside if prompted. This is something that will need to be continually reinforced. She is a chewer, so plan to have lots of toys, Kong's, and food puzzles to keep this girl occupied! She's smart and very determined as well, and has taught herself how to use the doggie stairs to get on the couch to hang with her foster sister Daisy ~ another lovable Frenchie. She's very ladylike, and has learned she needs to sit pretty before she's given her dinner. The perfect home will be one that can spend a lot of one-on-one time with her; whether you are retired, work-from-home or can take her with you to work each day. She will need additional training, and lots of patience, since she's still a puppy. She has separation anxiety and does not like to be left home alone, so if you are a frequent flier, sorry - your application will not even be considered. Her adoption fee is $750.00.. if interested email us at pets@findahomegiveahome.com We do not adopt to family with young children and out of state unless you are having a second home in Florida. If you are a senior please consider adopting a mature dog.
